Garnet Zimmerman

Garnet Zimmerman has many years of bargaining and mediation experience starting in 1988 to present. He has held elected positions from Shop Steward to International Vice President with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Garnet has successfully completed hundreds of collective bargaining agreements ranging in a vast scope of industries such as truck drivers, professional employees and warehouse workers both in the manufacturing and service industries. During his tenure as Business Representative, and President of Teamsters Local 31, National Executive Board member of Teamster Canada, International Representative and International Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Garnet completed numerous courses on pension plans, health and welfare plans, collective bargaining, federal and provincial labor codes and women's issues.

In 2009 Garnet started a private negotiation and mediation company and is at present negotiating collective agreements across Canada for a variety of industries. Garnet has been a guest speaker for many organizations at conferences speaking on a variety of subjects.

Garnet works with not only his clients, but earns the trust, respect and confidence of the other party. He brings together extensive bargaining expertise along with a vast knowledge of settlements and strategies bringing a balance to labour relations.

His knowledge of a wide variety of industries has exposed him to almost every conceivable problem met by the affected parties. His ability to find middle ground and look at fresh new perspectives to find creative solutions in very difficult situations is one of his strongest attributes.
